Remnants of hand painted mountainous landscape scenes with architectural dwellings and bamboo foliage on each of the two doors surrounded by calligraphy panel header and couplets of a Confucius style quote or saying:

..Square nails have been added over time in various areas (not uniform) to reinforce the early mortise and tenon joinery.  A portion of the nail heads appear to be touched up while others are under an old coat of lacquer.  That said, it is my suspicion that the outer sides of the cabinet and drawer fronts may have been repainted or re-lacquered. Yet, with exception to a few small areas of amateur touch ups, both doors and three calligraphy panels appear to be in the original hand painted and lacquered finish.
..Inside the cupboard there is one shelf with five cut out rectangular slots.  Also noted are two holes in the bottom of the cabinet on the inside the doors in alignment with the holes on the inner sides of the drawer fronts below, once used to lock the drawers.

..Consistent with the Confucian theme of FORTUNE, various forms of what appear to be original ANCIENT BRONZE COINAGE serving as decorative and functional hardware latches and backplates with ring pulls of the doors and right drawer.
